Indeed. Looking forward to a convenient land connection between a united Ireland and an independent Scotland.

It’s a monumentally stupid idea. It should never, and will never, happen.

It is an incredible engineering challenge. Humankind rises to challenges like this. This is what makes it exciting!

This is a political proposal not an economic one, it’s about preserving the union and supporters of the bridge will openly say that. Why would any nationalist or Republican think that it was a good idea?
-
Because there's not going to be a bridge, but there is going to be a ton of money on offer for pretty much anything else. Even housing and health are classed as 'infrastructure' for this funding.

At the risk of being accused of taking this seriously, Dublin-Hollyhead would probably make more sense. Longer but probably less complex. Connecting infrastructure already in place and cost could be shared EU (Ireland) UK.

Most of the traffic is to England so the motorist would be faced with an additional motoring journey down to London or further.I have done that journey and with the bridge journey and wherever you are driving from in Ireland it would require a stop overnight in hotel Unfeasible

Just like what traffic that come off ferries do at the moment then. What if this bridge/tunnel also featured a high speed rail link? The prospect of this is exciting surely?
