i love it when the reviewer says "due to the lack of quantification it is not clear bla bla bla" and you have used 3 different ways to quantify the data they are referring to

Growing older I’ve come to the realization that the scientists who really interest me are those who are really motivated, hard working and kind/nice people. For everyone else I couldn’t care less

Also focusing on Jennifer Lopez’s (admittedly pretty) butt isn’t exactly how gender equality will be achieved

This addresses in detail long-standing questions about why mammalian ORs refuse to go to the cell surface when expressed heterologously but do so in OSNs. And raises intriguing hypotheses about this being a feature underlying rapid evolution of ORs. Cool!

“What’s the mechanism?” can be a really ridiculous question. When a truly novel observation is made, almost by definition, the mechanism is unknown (and what qualifies as a “mechanism”?). Asking scientists to wait YEARS before sharing an exciting observation is irresponsible.

I can't stop praising the worm field. Yesterday evening I asked Cori for plasmids/strains today I received a notice they'll be fedexed to me. I love you all worm people, I really do. You make me a happier scientist 🐛🔬💜

This is hilarious! He got mad cause the Brexit 50p coin is missing the Oxford comma. Like if everything else was going great in Britain!

We have engineered a genetically encodable synthetic synapse useful to rewire circuits, to examine neurotransmission or to alter neuromodulation in vivo. The system is robust, immediately technically applicable & we are ready to share it. Work done by postdoc (thread)
