I saw a few clear Musk stans there, but most seemed to be pointing out that this seems to be an electric car thing, not a Tesla/Musk thing. At least the part about firefighting... That was a conflation on top of the original post about "autopilot" being dangerous

I remember my fireman uncle get so mad in the 80s because everyone said wearing a seatbelt might kill them if their car catches fire. Cars almost never catch fire in crashes.

They are engineered not to!!! Fireproof gas tanks are pretty much a solved problem!

I mean... is that really a Musk problem though? I am all for blaming him if warranted, but my first thought it is that this would likely be true of all high capacity Li-ion electric cars and/or the fire department was using the wrong thing to put it out.

Bolts were "spontaneously" bursting into fire. So, burning batteries isn't unique to Tesla.
