Bad reviews serve THE READERS, who, in case people haven't noticed, are ACTUALLY THE AUDIENCE FOR REVIEWS. If i'm about to spend $10 on a shitty book that no one even bothered to edit, i WANT TO KNOW THAT. https://twitter.com/MessyMompreneur/status/1292513263968825345 …

Also, CONTACTING AUTHORS DIRECTLY is always fucking dicey if you don't know them, and if a total rando emails an author a BAD REVIEW, the BEST case scenario is that the author ignores them completely. Have some FUCKING sense! https://twitter.com/MessyMompreneur/status/1292513263968825345 …

Oh my GOD, so if you don't like a book you should TELL THE AUTHOR PERSONALLY? oh noooo nonono omg (the only exception I can think of is like if it's an ARC or something, and there's a chance to FIX IT)

This is... this is the WORST ADVICE I'VE EVER SEEN MY GOD I AM IN HORROR? Just. Send the author an email that says "I hate this" why would they do that

I’ve bought books thanks to negative reviews. Sometimes a clear, well written negative review tells me that I would enjoy what the reviewer didn’t. Sometime an angry screed by an awful person makes me want to see what the fuss is about and to support the author.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Bad reviews also don't mean i wont buy the book. Because what that reviewer finds "bad" may be my catnip!

Right! If a book has no bad reviews, that is in and of itself a red flag for me. If no one disliked your book, or cared enough to leave a bad review, obviously not very many people read it at all!
