👇Read our statement below on the SB342. $3 million dollars. That’s what it takes to buy off Indiana Senators and vote against pregnant Hoosiers, new mothers, and babies.

Three people testified for SB299 Fetal Remains bill. You know who? why? All three from AG Curtis Hill’s office. But Indiana won’t improve its abysmal infant and maternal mortality rates by *law enforcement* or personification of embryos. NO - SB299 YES - SB342

Please keep calling Indiana state senators today (Wed Feb 4) as SB299 and SB342 get third readings. If it passes, it will be assigned to a House Committee and we’ll talk to those people.

Death rituals heal and make meaning for beloveds. SB299 exploits health policy to personify embryos. It’s bad public health policy that undermines infant and maternal mortality. A state shows its culture of life by passing SB342 instead. and L.Brown

⬇️It couldn’t be better said. 💕 This, Sen. Liz Brown, is why your “public health”policy isn’t serious. State coercion of ritual to personify embryos isn’t. That’s private. Real public health would reduce infant and maternal mortality rates. Pass SB342

Please, and Indiana’s Maternal and Infant Mortality should be beyond politicizing. These are lives of real families. Our public health markers are abysmal. Too much public health policy is designed for political pro-life signals.

For Indiana’s SB299. It’s not always possible to collect a specimen from a miscarriage or medication abortion. The idea of “a right to” burial/cremation for what & Sen. Liz Brown wrongly call “fetal remains” doesn’t make sense to those who have been there.

The IN Dpmt of Health used this exact measure, the year-to-year difference of IMR as measured by data from single years, that the says is too “unstable” to indicate a significant trend, in this press release claiming meaningful improvement.

Wait. In point of fact, there is a paragraph on the Indiana Dept of Health website that discounts single year-to-year comparisons of Infant Mortality Rate, the ONLY claim to progress the Dept has made on IMR, as NOT a meaningful metric. Citation below.

Sen. Ron Alting, the Republican author of SB 342 to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant women and new moms, spoke passionately to reporters about the gutting of the bill to a study committee. He is broken hearted, but didn't speak on floor because...

There is an amazing discussion on FB page about SB299 on so-called Fetal Remains. Hundreds of people telling their stories of abortions, miscarriages, and infertility. None of them was asking for a different way to manage expelled uterus contents.

Brown calls it offensive for the bill to tell employers to provide lactation room. Says she’d rather have that discussion herself with employer. BTW no lactation room or even changing tables in the Statehouse.
