Berlin is compromising with the CCP. CCP allows Germany provide asylums for protestors. On the other hand, Berlin is turning a blind eye on CCP oppression in HK. EU does not trust US. Berlin is not a hardliner.

Financial Times's comment as “ Chinese commercial retaliation in Europe is rare” is not true. Chinese commercial retaliation on Norway due to 2010 Nobel Peace Prize was very hard and lasted more than 6 years. Other European countries and enterprises kept watching silently then.
