I think you underestimate the drive people have when they are threatened, or their way of life is in danger. It's been the case across history that countres can and wil rally to defend themselves against a common threat. Nothing is ever certain, people can surprise you.

The Communist China has been showing that it doesn't care about int'l commitments/ universal values, & would only keep expanding its authoritarianism around the world. Global solidarity & actions must be imposed to stop the CCP's threat.

He threatened the people around the world to get them into silence. While westerners contributed development of that country of poverty (see Wiki), they have strengthened their military and exploited intellectual property by using laws and rules seemingly resemble to the West.

China increasing the wolf warrior rhetoric against Australia. Possibly betting on a change in U.S. policy after Trump. But China picked the wrong country to bully. Aussies are not ones to bow under pressure, especially when their soverignty is in question.
