He was all alone, had to dig himself out, crawl 20 yards to the pickup, and CB for help before he passed out. Ended up in traction for 6 or 8 weeks.

as for yours truly, I've had concussion & broken wrist from falling off a bale stack, broken my own patella with a baling hook, and slipped while riding on the back of a tractor- breaking my jaw on the drawbar and dragging 100 yards down a gravel road. All before age of 12.

High school buddy who's now a farmer had his hand amputated in a PTO accident in his 20s; they were able to put it on ice and Med Flight him to Mayo Clinic. Amazingly they were able to reattach it, and he regained 60% function.

My great grandfather got his arm caught in a thresher (as it was called then). He saved himself from being dragged in and killed, by throwing himself backward and away, ripping the arm off. Fathered several more children, and lived until he was nearly 90.
