@guylepage3@petertoddbtc I'm not on there and won't be joining another blockchain forum. :) Curious to see what you have, tho. -
@guylepage3@petertoddbtc Plus, this isn't a bitcoin/blockchain specific topic so a formal discussion should be on a more general forum -
.
@ioptio@petertoddbtc true.. I'll throw something up here in a few days and we can have a discussion. -
@lightcoin That's what I was thinkin' too.@guylepage3@petertoddbtc -
@lightcoin@guylepage3@petertoddbtc <side rant> why isn't there a god damn service that uses git for design and/or music versioning yet? - 1 more reply

@ioptio You gonna release the original .svg vector art and Illustrator/whatever files? -
@ioptio Your github license is GPL, rather than CC BY-SA - be good to clarify that. -
@petertoddbtc oh ya!

@ioptio@petertoddbtc These appear to be descended from Paul Baran's original: http://www.cybertelecom.org/notes/baran.htm . FWIW, I prefer their simplicity. -
@dsearls@petertoddbtc This is our attempt to mitigate usage of that very chart which we think is outdated / misleading. -
@dsearls@petertoddbtc I agree with@ioptio. We are also working on an updated illustration as well. -
@guylepage3 Hi, did you ever do this?

@ioptio@petertoddbtc The only truly viable and fair DeCen system is the last diagram. 1 node per person on Earth activated at exact time. -
@VeryVeriViral@petertoddbtc ok but fairness precludes other properties such as efficiency. ie mesh networks w/ backbone nodes work better.

@ioptio@petertoddbtc Nice one Paige, B nice to show how DC systems all interact (not depend) with all other DC systems -> story of life :-) -
@metaquestions@petertoddbtc or even how each kind of network might interact in an environment together to illustrate various cost-benefit -
@ioptio@petertoddbtc Yes living then dying and evolving into better more efficient systems. Good idea! -
@ioptio@petertoddbtc Some symbiotic (not many) Feels nicer than systems dying if they evolve then it's much better. constant improvement! -
@metaquestions@ioptio@petertoddbtc but friends, this isnt what the term distributed means. Why do we want to change the word's definition? -
@AlyseKilleen@ioptio@petertoddbtc We are talking decentralised here I think. Distributed being a weaker notion. -
@metaquestions@ioptio@petertoddbtc I understand, but that's not correct without changing the definition of distributed. -
@AlyseKilleen@metaquestions@petertoddbtc distributed networks include those with central administration. Decentralised does not & can not. - 1 more reply
