Banks' AGMs have the potential to make change. Here's how! Join and take action ⏬

Companies have power. Powerful companies control industries and can shape society. Universities are shareholders. Many universities hold investments in companies, thereby owning a part of it. Every year, a company holds an AGM, a gathering of shareholders. Shareholders can file resolutions - a proposal to change company practices. Call on your university to vote at AGMs and push for change.

Excellent article in by . For all the progress by universities on ethical investment policies, there are still major gaps in holdings disclosure, ethical banking, & student participation in governance

Over half of universities had made no commitment to removing fossil fuels from their investment policies, and many more have no policies when it comes to funding arms companies.

’s new coal policy is a step forward (& a big win for shareholder engagement)... BUT significant loopholes remain & the door is still open for the bank to finance coal developers. HSBC must go further & step up to meet the urgency of the climate challenge

We need asset managers to be taking climate change seriously - "gameable" commitments are not good enough. The COP26 declaration signed by progressive asset owners is calling for minimum climate standards ➡️
