I had always hoped to see something like this happen with the 1st National building downtown, maybe someone could convince Peach. It would be a much cheaper and more realistic project than the proposed development.

On an unrelated note, that’s the building that is basically 5 McKay Buildings glued together.

While Puget Sound housing remains among the most expensive in the nation, Seattle saw the steepest monthly decline in rent among major metros in December, based on a recent Zillow report.

What if every time our clothes felt a little tight, we bought bigger clothes rather than changing our habits? What if we just accepted that we’ll continue growing in an unhealthy way and budgeted for bigger clothes every year? Crazy, right? Why do we do it with our roads?

I was riding my bike through E 4th and noticed this closed up tire shop. What a great building! I could see this being converted to a brewpub or something like it. Unfortunately, there’s nothing around but car dealerships and rental lots.

This is an exciting discussion--for too long planners/engineers have been building our roads with *their* priorities to move vehicles fast, rather than most people's priorities to connect people to places. Streets are public space: we have a right to build them to our values.

Happy to have my name on this alongside some truly wonderful neighbors. Making our urban streets safer, more walkable, and more bike-friendly, is good for healthy lifestyles, good for business, good for public safety, and good for the environment. adn.com/opinions/2022/

May 15, 1949, the 4th Avenue Theatre in Anchorage. The theater opened in 1947 with a showing of The Jolson Story. If you want a picture of the sign, you might think about heading downtown sooner than later as it will demolished this summer. #alaskahistory #anchoragehistory

If you're interested in urban design, landscape architecture, or ecosystem rehabilitation....tomorrow at noon, Tamás Deák of KPB Architects is giving an Anchorage Design Week presentation, via Zoom, on daylighting Fish Creek!

These actions by the administration are very disappointing and will negatively impact our community as a whole. I strongly urge the Mayor’s office to honor their commitments and support the arts in our city.

I've spent the last 5 days reading through muni code, budgets, transcribing a commission meeting, and trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the Mayor's Art Grants funding. What I found shocked me. #ANCgov anchoragedeadbeat.com/2022/04/12/gra

I wrote this back in February but spring is near and it may be a good time for to explore a pilot program for these services. #Transit #Anchorage

When's the next bus to Kincaid? Transit isn't just for essential travel; it should provide universal access to Anchorage's recreation areas. Read more at: intrinsic.city/whens-the-next #peoplemover #transit #buses #anchorage
