for UK followers: this charity helps acquire and redistribute used books to schools around the UK, and specifically try to get books by authors of similar backgrounds to the kids who are going to read them. Every £200 donated gets 40 books to a school

If there’s one thing I’ve learned reading through the writings of academics that champion bigotry with the thinnest veneer of scholarship, it’s that nothing they produce would pass an intro class, much less survive peer review, their heads are soft and they skate by on prestige

it's hard to not want to lose your mind when they spend £37 billion on an app that doesn't work and then tell NHS staff to fuck themselves on a 1.1% raise when inflation is 5x that. But for the time being we can get tests on demand here, and that's just not the case back home

people in the UK have been surprised at how much more outcry there is in the US to delay school openings or remain on remote learning during this wave, and i feel like this is a good example of how the US is presently handling it

as is always saying: it's by and large a low stakes country without the highs and lows of America, and obviously America is way more violent in every sense of the word. but in terms of just general brain-melt stupidity, Britain is number one babey

of course deep down I would love to buy the most high-end version of the new MacBook pro, but 1. we use Windows for all of our setup and it's easier 2. lol I'm still burned from buying a brand new one in 2016 and the speaker immediately went haywire 3. it would cost 2x my budget

if you were looking to buy a Windows laptop in the next say 3 months and you didn't want a gaming laptop, what would you choose? I just want to get something that I can edit / record multitrack audio on, but the RGB lights and badass decals are just not for me, sorry

was just reminded of LBC having that caller on who howled about Great Replacement Theory and 'indigenous Britons' to Keir Starmer, and then a cursory search revealed her to be a well known bikram yoga instructor living in Benidorm who is extremely racist. full points, no notes
