The best career tip: Start writing. Publicly. No one will notice at first. Which is good. You’ll build the habit. You’ll find your voice. You’ll build a platform slowly, brick by brick. Over 5-10 years, you’ll build an asset very few have. The opportunities will shock you.

I had a blog I wrote feverishly for about 6 months. It didn’t really get any traction so I quit. Focused more on saying similar things but shorter (aka Twitter). Would you be of the mind 6 months wasn’t long enough to get a sense of success potential?

Not nearly enough. Which is why he was talking 5-10 years. Success in under a year is pretty hard to pull off. Most people I know took off after about 18+ months at a minimum.
