Some of the numbers sound bogus. How is 2ms drag latency perceived when refresh interval is at best something like 10-16 ms? How is keyboard latency supposedly so awful tolerated?

Single-digit ms drag sensitivity was measured by these researchers using a custom-built touch input+display rig: http://www.tactuallabs.com/papers/designingLowLatencyDirectTouchInputUIST12.pdf …pic.twitter.com/xpGitBzTPc

I wonder if it's actually the latency or just the difference in position that's perceptible. The latter could probably be masked by trivial extrapolation & motion blurring.
-
True, human perception is incredibly sensitive about motion specifically. Software extrapolation is done by many stylus systems including iPad, which is fun to watch on high-speed camera especially when you veer away from a straight line!

Iphone 6s vs samsung pencil test? Looks like the video is an ipad pro vs something different

-
The apps they used w/ Samsung aren't best for low latency. OneNote/Android is a joke. S3 isn't best hardware either. I think some were used for illustration purposes.
-
Would love to hear what you think are the most responsive Android drawing/stylus input apps are
-
Re apps to test. Try the stock Samsung Notes; S-Note which I installed 3rd party; Lecture Notes; INKredible. (I have pro version of latter, not sure it will make a difference). I take extensive notes & screenshots w/ stylus. EMR I like > active stylus.
-
I also have a Note 9 & Samsung Galaxybook. I'd love to see a test on the Note 9. My experience is excellent, while love to see the numbers on that. Forgot to mention Google Keep for app.

Very interesting piece! One sidenote: displays don't refresh globally, but in general in from top to bottom (not just old crt's, LCD as well). Best case latencies are therefore much lower, even more so when v-sync is not used.

I remember when I bought Samsung 244T LCD, and had problems with mouse for a while due to that LCD's display lag.

2/ whereas for touch input the only way you know that your action has had a result is when you see something change. Perhaps this is mitigated by haptic feedback from touch screens? It would be interesting to know
