I've tweeted for many years about how awful Richard "RMS" Stallman is - the pedophilia, the ableism, the misogyny. Inevitably, each time I do, dudes examine my receipts & then say "all those incidents are from years ago! he's changed now!" NOPE.https://medium.com/@selamie/remove-richard-stallman-fec6ec210794 …

It's cool. We still love Stallman. He has many flaws, but no one follows him for his awful opinions. He is a valuable actor in the software world and that won't change even if he kill someone in cold blood.

Remember the guy who designed a file system which was a standard in the OS world for while, then murdered his wife and got 20yrs? Couldn't even remember his name, that's how forgotten he is. (Hans Reiser.)

In the end, is NOT a single-guy project. I doubt Hans did all the ReiserFS *revisions* by himself, with no external patches and fixes. Most selfish people don't understand this. Americans must learn to NOT idolize great work as if it was from a SINGLE guy. It wasn't.

I'm aware of that (and ReiserFS was struggling even when Reiser was arrested), much of the work was done by programmers in Russia. But the project has died a death since he was taken off the scene.
