Audio programmers (the kind that writes to the audio buffer), do you use safety tools in case of bugs that produce loud high pitch tones?

(volume in osx is(or was) just a float multiplier, so even if you have it set to min you can still make very dangerous sounds)

That's very good to know. Clamp the value before setting to the buffer, check!

this may not be true for unity, which has fmod. But for puredata it was (I don't touch puredata anymore because of that experience)
