The best part of having a custom engine is custom effects. Yeah I realize I could probably do it with Unity, too, but it might be harder.
@psysal you can have multiple cameras in unity rendering over eachother, and fiddle with rendering orders/what gets rendered by each camera.

@increpare@psysal You can also hand-render objects/meshes w/Unity... Compared to most engines, hacking rendering is much easier. -
