It's interesting to see all the quite tight conventions that're building up on the Deckbuilding computer game genre over time.

e.g. I like comparing how they approach world-maps. Monster Train goes for a streamlined version of StS's, whereas Overdungeon tries to take StS's and give it slightly more interesting (IMO) decisions.

I quite like monster train. The streamlined world-maps. Haven't played overdungeon, but that also seems like a viable approach. I also like that there are no "filler" encounters in monster train, only long important battles.

How does the difficulty feel for you? I've played StS for over 20 hours on the lowest difficulty and only beat it twice. In monster train, I'm cruising up the covenant levels.

Just starting to get into it, enjoying the discovery arc so far. Cleaner map choices are nice, multiple rewards per "battle" make sense too. Seems like fair variety in factions, I like the 2 faction thing. Sounds like I need to try Overdungeon!

Their in-game lexicon and run summary seem very familiar ;)

Love it. Not very good at it (only 3 "ascension"). Would like to have more of everything :D Imho closest mechanically is Slay the spire - though Monster Train is more laxer/swingier in it's design as less battles happen.

enjoying it a lot. duplicating runed cards early is kind of an OP strategy and so far has been only way to win for me. that's why I build my deck in the early stages and discard all after 4-5th stage. I would have appreciated a slower growth in enemy power and less powerful runes

I like hardcore puzzle games like yours, and Slay the Spire, and I am very impressed with it, and it's a more-casual Slay the Spire.
