And then you have us people who love turn based battle systems and wonder why more games dont use it. (And then yakuza lad was born and the world was complete)

On a fundamental level, probably. But for me that calls into question if a lot of modern JRPGs are even doing turn based battle systems well. Because I’ve tried and man…nothing does it the same for me.

Hey Barrett did you ever play Lost Oddessey back on the 360?

I don’t really like turn based combat, but sometimes like a game in spite of it. I play it for the characters and stories. If their was an “auto battle” option I’d probably do that, since I don’t enjoy the combat.

I've been playing disgaea 6, which has that, though it's definitely not a game you go to for the story and characters

The only turn-based games I like are Pokémon (all of them) and South Park. Anything else isn’t for me.

I like turn based games, just don’t love grinding for hours to level up. Hit a wall with Octopath and think I might with Yakuza LAD. Can anyone recommend any JRPG’s that don’t have excessive grinding?
