This is where humans often mess up. But in #Shenmue, Ryo asks the Chinese community for help and learns about them in the process. Tao-san doesn't shy away from the assumption of prejudice towards the Chinese and confronts it. Ryo acknowledges this and the conversations proceeds.

What's remarkable here is that a video game is dealing with the very real human phenomena of ethnic and cultural prejudices, this one being a very real one between the Japanese and Chinese.
#Shenmue handles it with pure class, without malice and remains pertinent to the story.Visa denna tråd -
When Ryo asks Tao-san about the Chinese, he gets a history lesson about the economic migration. We learn about an ethnic minority through a practical and humanised lens that serves the story and doesn't entertain prejudice. This is what humans need to do as our impulse choice.

#Shenmue did this back in 2000 and was actually way ahead of its time. Imagine what other ethnic, cultural, religious and domestic conflicts we could explore through video games with strong stories? This is just the tip of the ice-berg.Visa denna tråd
