    So we called up Hackney registry office on Monday morning, got the last slot on Wednesday afternoon, and organised a micro-wedding and tiny reception in 48 hours. And now I be with my new wife for Xmas 💕 To be continued... in California!

    Weddings no longer allowed. We heard it easily be extended to Xmas, or beyond. Trump could have still won the US election at this point; who knows what that would mean for both of us. Boris had announced the lockdown on Saturday, but the new rules didn't kick in 'til Thursday.

    So then we realised we just had to get married, not least so I could get into the US to visit her as a family member (as you do). Which was already hilarious. We zoom-introduced the families, proposed, and set a date for late November... and then lockdown 2 happened.

    To this day, most Brits are still forbidden from entering the US due to Covid. But then the pandemic weirdly came to our rescue; thanks to remote working, Amy managed to come over and quarantine with me in London for June and then August. And then...well, we just knew, y'know?

    We met again in February, and still couldn't decide. Both options felt impossible. But we made a plan; she'd come to London for April, so we'd chew it over again. And then Covid happened. Flights grounded, foreign nationals banned, etc. It was a little heartbreaking.

    In a *very* foolish move, we managed to see each other again a couple of times before the year was out, and inevitably fell hard for each other as 2019 was ending. So we spent the first two months of 2020 trying to figure out what seemed crazier; walking away, or giving it a go?
