    3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000...

    In my years researching S Carolina hurricanes, of course never ran anything like the suggested currently forecasted stall of Florence off the coast. I do recall looking at a weak hurricane in 1913 that took an unusual track from off Massachusetts though.

    The current death toll for Puerto Rico - revised upward from 64 initially - is now estimated at roughly the same as those on Sept. 11, 2001.
