Tesla stock is down nearly 5 percent today, and over 62 percent over the course of 2022. Seems bad.

FWIW, $80,000 in liquor expenses seems like an entirely reasonable amount for an organization that is literally in the business of wining and dining rich donors to spend. I'm surprised this number isn't much higher.

I think that leaders of institutions should not make decisions by fantasizing about what they think their enemies have done to them, and then doing those things to their perceived enemies.

I feel like Elon has done Kevin McCarthy a huge favor by becoming Twitter’s permanent main character. Because otherwise Kevin stumbling around trying to find 218 votes to become speaker is exactly the sort of goofy slapstick comedy that this website feeds off of.

One thing that worries me is that, because Twitter has always been there, a lot of systems that would have been built to help people find information were not built over the last decade. It will take time to build that infrastructure.

I am once again asking you to make a plan for how you’re going to keep yourself informed, especially about public affairs (and double-especially about policy), before you (or a critical mass of other people) leave Twitter.

As someone who reports on the Supreme Court of the United States, Twitter's behavior under its new management feels familiar to me.

There is literally no more annoying trend than the need of aging conservative men (and their spokesperson, Bari Weiss) to act like civilization depends on their ability to share racial slurs and pictures of Hunter Biden's penis online.

Say what you will about Trump’s lame NFT drop, but I don’t see a lot of reporters talking about Ron DeSantis appeal to the Republican primary’s crucial anti-vaxxer demographic anymore.

Trump trying to sell an NFT drop to his most loyal supporters at the very moment that it is obvious to everyone that the entire crypto and crypto-adjacent industry is a huge scam is.. the most on brand thing I've ever seen.

Low Energy Donald copies Dark Brandon memes. He hasn't had an original idea since the Trump Taj Mahal. Sad!

And now they're coming after contraceptives despite Tx' high rate of teen pregnancies. "even if Kacsmaryk’s opinion is eventually rejected by a higher court, he could potentially send the Title X program into turmoil for months." #txlege

I think the fact that Ron DeSantis's position on mRNA vaccines is not "FUCK YEAH THEY ARE AWESOME!!!" is disqualifying for elected office.

As a middle-aged suburban professional who is concerned about inflation and the possibility of a recession, I would vote for a presidential candidate who supports mRNA vaccines over a candidate who opposes them.

BREAKING NEWS: This is an announcement that has been decades in the making.   On December 5, 2022 a team from DOE's @Livermore_Lab made history by achieving fusion ignition.   This breakthrough will change the future of clean power and America’s national defense forever.

Hypothetically speaking, suppose that Ron DeSantis launches his presidential race, and it is immediately clear to voters that he is a short, uncharismatic weirdo with a nasally voice and delusions of becoming an American Viktor Orban. What's the Republican Party's plan C?

It strikes me as a structural problem with US government that we take people who spent decades as zealous advocates for whoever would pay their hourly rate, and then make them judges and tell them that their new job is to be impartial.

What’s the downside to prosecuting them?

Binance: "If you prosecute us, you'll break crypto" reuters.com/markets/us/us-
Binance's defense attorneys at U.S. law firm Gibson Dunn have held meetings in recent months with Justice Department officials, the four people said. Among Binance's arguments: A criminal prosecution would wreak havoc on a crypto market already in a prolonged downturn. The discussions included potential plea deals, according to three of the sources.
