One of the hardest things to do as a DS leader is communicate about why it's hard to be a DS. Most folks simply don't understand the challenges DS face so it's very important to do... but man is it a slog sometimes

it just might be figuring out what my job actually is
there are a lot of things a DS can do, but that doesn't mean they should do them. the boundaries are sometimes hard to figure out even as a DS, so it can be hard to make sure the people you're accountable to are on the same page

Yeah I know what you mean. These data jobs in general can be a bit hard to define. I'm hoping to break into data engineering and I don't think there's always clearly defined boundaries there either

I worked on some experience engineering projects, it usually turned in to how bad can we make a product and still have people buy it
