If you feel like your manager, some crossfunctional person or your teammates don't loop you in early enough, it's probably because your relationship with them is mostly transactional. While this is a frustrating situation to be in, it IS something you have control over.

Doing this pull you out of transactional territory because your relationship will exist outside of specific, requested tasks. Successful professional partnerships are based around shared goals, and this is one way to make sure you're working towards the same things.

You don't need to be this person's best friend. You don't even have know anything about their life outside of work. You just need to act like your relationship exists outside of the bounds of transactional tasks because it does, and acting like it will help them realize that too.
