I find it helpful to think of doing data science as having a conversation. Much in the same way I can talk to myself, I can do DS on my own. But even if I come up with something really great, I'm still often left wondering, "okay, but now what?”
That’s why I usually want to share. Maybe the sharing is for a social purpose, simply trying to get someone talking and thinking. Maybe the sharing is for a functional purpose, like trying to solve a business problem at work. Either way, I need someone's reaction to move on.
Some of the best conversations I've had have gone in directions I could never predicted, and so too with my analysis and DS projects. I'm better when I collaborate, even if it's just to get a second opinion.
So true. If I spend a week getting to some finding and then bring it to the person who can actually act on the data - there’s so much education required to get them up to speed. Bring them along for the journey!
