Data scientists and data science managers, how many people are on your team? How often do you directly collaborate with your teammates, and what sorts of projects do you tend to collaborate on?

this is a function of my team being very small, each person being fairly specialized, and the benefit of having a clear point-of-contact for our major efforts (i.e. one person owns infra, one person owns forecasting, one person owns cost-to-deliver analytics)
It seems like that structure of one-person-per-specialty is common for a lot of DS teams. They're all small and need folks to really own their areas. The exception I've encountered most are in very mature companies or mature verticals within companies (like ads or feeds ranking).

definitely! i think one of the things i've been thinking a lot about is how to help share that knowledge effectively across the team / org, so that even if someone has to answer the thorny questions, we produce resources that make some of the simpler questions more self-service
