I feel like this is really stupid, but I've been struggling for weeks (arguably months) to form the pieces for my D&D group's next adventure, and it's starting to really upset me that I can't quite make it click in my head so I can actually put pen to paper.

Two articles I've found helpful are this blog post about prepping to improv (https://www.indiegamereadingclub.com/indie-game-reading-club/prep-2-0/ …) and this one about prepping situations rather than plots (https://thealexandrian.net/wordpress/37422/roleplaying-games/dont-prep-plots-tools-not-contingencies …)

FWIW, collaborative storytelling is definitely what I aspire to too. Will check those articles out. My problem is that while I can work with improv to a point, doing things like setting up a full blown dungeon on the fly (especially on VTT) is out of my reach.
