Are you sure audio is being captured and used for that purpose? The mic would have to be on literally all the time, and the technological infrastructure required to make that volume of unstructured data useful would probably not be worth the time and money to build.

All I have is my own anecdotal evidence. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There’s always been mixed public reporting as to whether or not they listen. Whether targeted ads are coming from data collection or audio collection, I find either creepy, especially around sensitive subjects like pregnancy.

Oh for sure. I'm not saying it's not creepy or that that's how it should be, ESPECIALLY with sensitive subjects. There are lots of people in the industry (myself included) who are deeply against this kind of targeting and personalization and are constantly fighting against it.
