i used to keep really close track of all my spending - transaction-by-transaction logs of what i spent, monthly checking of my bank accounts, spending categorized and double-checked against receipts and bank records i dont do this anymore and i dont think i need too

this sort of very conscientious tracking of money is very good and important if you are in debt or otherwise in financial trouble but i havent been basing any decisions off this, really, and my spending is already low enough that its w/e

it might be good to do this on one or two months out of the year, just to have an idea of how you spend money and so you dont waste effort trying to improve your financial situation in ineffective ways

although i am also the sort of person who is confused about how people have money problems when they could simply not buy things
