i'm not going to go all the way to turning this into a Way of Kings fandom account but this book is so good. it's amazing to just see Sanderson pull off such incredibly good storytelling tricks over and over

my favorite one takes the form of.... repeatedly drop foreshadowing, but with absolutely no context, so that it just looks just like flavor text. then, 800 pages later, just throw an off-handed remark in that suggests that every single one of those was actually plot-relevant

he also does this thing where he has Weird Things Going On, But Just Kind Of Acknowledged And Accepted, and after 800 pages you figure “eh I guess it’s just part of the universe” and stop thinking about it on the 801st page the explanation hits like a truck
