I’ve seen several people now refer to population density as an explanation for a higher IFR in NYC vs other places. I cannot see how that makes sense; density would affect rate of spread, not fatality rates?

something about viral load? more exposure to virus -> less time to build up defenses -> infection is worse i know jack shit about viruses though
