abolish time zones why does it matter when the day is in regard to our arbitrary systems; all they cause is inconvenience and coordination problems time X should be X everywhere, whether it’s day or night also do away with daylight saving time

this post makes some interesting points but it seems to me that —twenty-four-hour clock solves am/pm —people/organizations would coordinate quickly to post adherent times —one large problem in the post is dst (also abolished) —is not more complicated than current

hadn't considered some practicalities, but this seems to basically strawman the idea of a unified global time, introducing and inflating as many inconveniences as possible to make point (personal preference, assuming the worst of law, etc.) changes my priors though, fwiw

this post basically just describes a temporary transition cost of moving to a new social equilibrium of one global time, once everyone got used to it it'd be way better in a million ways

the bit about not being to tell when other people are awake or when businesses in different places are open would be a real pain timezones were made to solve a problem and abolishing them wont keep it solved
