business idea: childhood hardship as a service give your kids access to every possible type of bad childhood so that they have a Reason To Fight

as a Bonus can you imagine the pain that kids would have knowing their parents put them through it? the trick is in figuring out the exact level of hardship to put kids through so theyre motivated but not horribly traumatized not even i know if im joking

okay so you have to make sure that kids can meaningfully improve their meagre lot in life in a positive-sum fashion, so the kids dont go full ya dystopia novel the methods for improvement should be non-obvious, so the kids have grit and cunning

I see the intent behind the idea is to instill stoicism and grit in a kid — but it doesn’t need to be obviously painful, or with no meaningful objective... Athletics fills this role for many kids, and the key difference is that they choose to play.

What are you imagining, specifically, that this group would do? How many “teachers”, how many students? What actions/activities/challenges? I’m interpreting a vibe that is way off and dystopian — because it sounds unnecessarily painful and sneaky. Am I tracking, or off base?

im not sure, i didnt think the implementation through much at all the dystopian vibes are pretty much right, and were a big part of what made me giggle over the idea if it had an intent, it was more to provoke thought than as a serious suggestion

Fair enough! I get the dystopian humor and the spider-breeding-solution to a fly-problem — but in my worldview, that level of deceit and coercion is always suboptimal. It’s a Spartan solution, yielding results which the creative & joyful opportunity cost far outweighs.
