so i actually got somewhat distracted from what @lou_keep was saying by the sheer heat of the takes
he absolutely ruins any hopes of actually building a coherent view of meaning given what we know about reality

one of the more interesting ideas is nihilists as taking our ideals too seriously because if you do that, you find out that nothing is actually based in anything oh god oh no but people who say they believe in [whatever] dont actually follow through (because it wont end well)

the problem is not that we lie (for we must) its that we suck at it we use vague abstractions that barely mean anything humanism in particular is bad, because humanists completely ignore any counterarguments and barely even check for causation "wonder and stardust" is nonsense
