deceased:recovered ratio is a lot higher than i would expect from 2% fatality rate is it just selection bias, or is there something else going on?

There was a preliminary study somewhere (which I cannot find now) indicating that air pollution may play into this: (1) facilitating the transmission (2) worsening the symptoms.

wait how does this play in? i thought fatality rates had to take into account various environmental factors

That's not even remotely my wheelhouse, but my understanding is that fatality rate is just deaths from disease divided by number of sick people in a time period - so if there's a confounding environmental factor I think it would just show up as "unexplained variations"?

ah, so a bunch of the people who died while having covid arent counted as having died of covid, driving deaths:recoveries up while keeping the cfr down that makes sense
