ngl the 5 paragraph essay format crippled my ability to write things nobody thinks like that, and if you try to write one it will ruin your thoughts on the subject its not even that easy to understand compared to just telling people to throw their thoughts onto a page

the ratio of essays i had to write in school to the number of decent essays i was exposed to in school was rather high i didnt actually see any really good essays until i read the lw sequences no wonder i didnt know how to write them, i didnt know what i was supposed to write

"ask a question, then record the process of trying to answer it" will almost always make a much interesting and more convincing essay than anything ever written for an english teacher

its not even ethnomethodology, its that writing down the things that convinced you of your position, in the way they convinced you, will show exactly how firm your beliefs are and show any points of confusion or unanswered questions + its harder to lie if you show your process
