feeling a bit concerned that i only trust small+big business out of this group & its not that i think they have my best interests at heart, but that i think their incentives are generally in my favor
it seems likely that falling trust levels come from seeing the proverbial sausage made im kind of curious now what a high-trust, high-information institution looks like ie a trustworthy institution
i trust small businesses in general because they are too weak to hurt people and they have no reason to really try i trust big businesses to not hurt me, in particular, in an easily-traced way, because they are greedy note that neither of these are actual trust

https://twitter.com/718Tv/status/1240721505325121537 … so part of it is likely that the people in charge of these institutions arent like me or like almost any given person (because there are so many people) but i dont think thats the cause of such abysmal trust
ian hines added,
if the us government were capable of producing things like this on a regular basis i would trust them instead we have the clusterfuck we dohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNw1pyksKHo …
it seems like most institutions are v. bad at honesty (news, military), or at not abusing authority (scotus, police), or at achieving their stated goals (schools, criminal justice) actually, i think many churches are probably good, i just dont know anything about them
i dont think chaining up institutions so they cant act badly is a solution they can build workarounds faster than you can put up barriers
