i do think that people have enough different dimensions that there are no cases of pareto domination, and even if there are then comparative advantage exists

I think it is likely that there is at least one case of pareto dominance, I just don't think that's a problem.

did some math, it looks like it takes a bit under 60 dimensions to have a 50% chance of at least one pareto dominance there are a LOT more than 60 dims here even if you limit it to actually important skills and collapse location&genetic traits to a small # of dims

I'm guessing that assumes independence though. Consider for example: 1. Someone who is in a permanent coma vs someone who is not. 2. The second best person and the best person in some hyperspecialised discipline that requires full time dedication.

Yeah, but I think that's a bit of a different beast. It's not something you're exactly better or worse at so much as a contextual and qualitative thing. (But indeed that is one of the major sources of self worth other than goodness at things)

no thats definitely one of the things i was talking about with multidimensional worth etc. relationships are totally things that make you more effective in the world

      Replying to @imhinesmi @DRMacIver and

you can be "better" at something if you have more ability to convince other people to do it strong relationships allow you to (amongst other things) easily convince people to do things likewise, you can be "better" at something if only you have the opportunity to do it

yeah, i was thinking of there being dimensions for each relationship you have, and also dimensions related to relationship building i think the only thing different here is that the parent-baby relationship is usually really strong
