stray thought: "equality" and "better" in this sense feels like a type error like saying (1,2)=(2,1) or (1,2)>(2,1) it doesnt make sense to have a single fixed hierarchy or to have no hierarchy multiple hierarchies, depending on situation+goals feels more natural to me

I think this is a different mistake. If someone is pareto dominated by someone else (they are better at everything), they are still equal in a moral worth sense.

i dont think people have equal moral worth, and i dont think society at large thinks they do either see prisons as an example see gandi for another

i do think that people have enough different dimensions that there are no cases of pareto domination, and even if there are then comparative advantage exists

I think it is likely that there is at least one case of pareto dominance, I just don't think that's a problem.

we're in agreement on the status of it being a problem

I think also like at some point "Well at least I'm not pareto dominated" would be pretty cold comfort even if you're technically slightly better at, like, darts or something.

note that some of those dimensions are going to be things like location, relationships, and spare time and comparative advantage is very very important here: you can be strictly worse at everything and still be useful

Usefulness doesn't depend on dominance, and worth does not depend on usefulness, though.

i just made the first point, no disagreement there worth may or may not depend on usefulness, depending on the situation and measuring stick used e.g. utilitarianism has peoples moral goodness depend on how much good they can do

so the trick is to find the situation that makes you be worth a lot

Yeah, this is a wonderful illustration why I reject this brand of utilitarianism, and why I'm generally very sceptical about it.
