Math is the study of patterns, and I like math. Ever since this tweet 17 hours ago, I've been searching for these odd patterns in our nature, ones newly brought to light by technologyhttps://twitter.com/fistlosopher/status/1216259796199825409 …

Often the subject matter of "phenomenology," it would seem these new patterns scare away many who would make sense of them for everyone else. If I were to perform some on them phenomenology myself, I would say it's because the "stakes" are so high, they affect so many people

Not me though! From elementary school on, I was always so very pleased when I could make a big number in math--I'd multiply e.g. 10540×522 in margins. I treasured new bigifying operators. Conversely, I had a strong distaste for making small and negative numbers. YUCK FRACTIONS!

So that's why I like the big phenomena and think about them despite having absolutely no evidence, research, or background on the phenomenon at hand--other than 25+ years of cultural immersion in humanity-as-modernity, of course

Anyhow, without further ado: mass shootings. A thought prompt: Awful convenient they primarily target schools, right? And I don't mean convenient for the narrative that's trying to institute gun control legislature, we'll leave all that aside for everyone else talking about this

No, I mean it's convenient in that it's SCHOOLS that are the target, and it's KIDS that are doing it for the most part, a.k.a. the LEAST important fundamental structure of modernity with the HIGHEST population to absorb it, perpetrated by & against the MOST MARGINALIZED demo

Why are schools the least important part of modernity? We all spend 13 years in them, foundational years where we learn what modernity is.

That would...take awhile to explain thoroughly, but by "least important," best way I could put it succinctly is that it's important THAT it's there, but not important at all whatsoever in how it is conducted (for modernity to work I mean)
