Thinking about children's well-being is good, actually, but usually when children are invoked they have nothing to do with the policy in question.

I mean, fair enough. But this is one of the classic cases were people jump from an extreme to other. And since the conversation is about availability of pornography to preteen children and its effects, invoking a preoccupation for children's well-being is in order

Which is what these people seem to dismiss by sarcastically saying "won't somebody think of the children". Yes, we will and should, because it's an inherently good thing to do.
