There is a lack of healthy, well-adjusted people in media. Seems dangerous given that we base our selves on how these people act. This seems related to how conflict is needed in stories. People don't want to watch/read people politely talking their issues out.
Now I'm wondering if that's a problem with how we envision conflict - if it can only spawn from people making bad or evil decisions then of course you need people to make bad or evil decisions in order to have a story.

And we don't want characters to be perfect Mary Sues who can do no wrong - but I think the problems with that trope come from people having a bad idea of what it looks like to be good and a bad model of social interaction, rather than from having characters be generally good.

I am, of course, looking for media recommendations with good role models.
