How do you overcome the time zones issue in day to day collaboration? Always proven to be easier to me to work out things in a room rather than online.

It ultimately depends on the type of communication amongst your team. We have our times where most of us are present. Not always. Rarely the case that something is so critical it can’t be worked out via a quick call ASAP or a bit later & using available tools to demonstrate.
-
Establishing strong lines of active and passive information sharing and resisting micromanagement are also key.
-
Absolutely!!
-
I see, thanks for that info. I have found more and more lately that video calls are great productivity/collaboration boosters. Written communication seems to be too verbose for the same information being passed along.
-
Just for clarification. I'm more talking about sharing information and making sure that everybody gets the same picture, not so much the passing on of tasks to work on.
-
Yep! For sure. I was too. With a combo of video and design/dev tools allowing you to present, it’s a solid setup. We’ve yet to run into an issue. Except sometimes video chats can’t connect to space fast enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ happens!
-
Indeed! :D

This is my dream but my baby is due in 6 weeks. Maybe I am more experienced for your next opening? In any case, thanks for doing it this way and sharing it. I hope more companies follow suit

Patricia, that’s wonderful news! As a Momma (my little one turns 2 tomorrow) I’m so excited for you. Whenever you’re ready, reach back out to me with your info and portfolio and we’ll go from there. That work for you?
-
That would be great! Thank you so much
-
No thanks needed. Good luck with everything! You’ll do great :)

That’s awesome, Cat! UI designer?
-
Designer of all the things! Visuals, conception, etc. Anything that plays a role in the overall experience for a user :)
-
I just read the description on Medium. It sounds really amazing. It’s quite similar to the work I’m doing now and really excites me to read about it. What an awesome opportunity!
-
That makes me happy to hear! It’s definitely rewarding all around. Thanks so much, Heidi. Did you apply?!
-
Just read about it, so far. It’s incredibly tempting! I’m currently working on a big project of my own. However, I’m still excited to hear about what you’re offering. Anyone would be fortunate to work with such a caring, talented team.

Really wish more companies would encourage this. Even though it seems like it's a big thing nowadays, in my experience it's quite difficult to find high quality remote jobs.
-
It’s super difficult. Definitely seems like there’s a rise because the convo is happening but companies are either fully remote, partially or not at all. And partially has stipulations.

I wouldn’t be a good candidate for a designer but if you ever need an illustrator, I’d love to work with you and
