I keep thinking about those guys who harbour resentment towards women to the point where they kill a bunch of people, like the Toronto van guy and that guy the Toronto guy explicitly said he admires.
people who identify as incel seem to think that if they can get a romantic partner, then they will be complete human beings and all their problems will be solved or something. Which is pretty stupid.

If you're a miserable person without a girlfriend then you'll either be a miserable person with a girlfriend or else you'll be in a weird dependent relationship that's doomed to failure both because of your issues and also the disproportionate emotional weight you put on it

I know this isn't groundbreaking stuff, but I think it's a mentality that a lot of young men find themselves in and then they get stuck in weird internet echo chambers with a bunch of other mixed-up young men and radicalise each other

A lot about the importance of good sex education, which is important, but maybe we should also be talking about some kind of...relationship education? Some kind of mental health education focusing on how you interact with society at large?

I think that the internet encourages certain kinds of behaviours just based on the medium of communication, short bursts of text, anonymity, no nuance, weird cloistering effects etc. As a result, it's easier for a person to get a warped view of the world.

But I don't know for certain if the internet is detrimentally shaping the views and identities of young men any more than society in general did in the past. I still think it's worth exploring some kind of social education module involving mental health and relationships though.
