Hey Everyone, I have been away for a minute because I am actually not ok at all tbh: I am in a really bad financial/housing situation, to the point that I have started a GoFundMe. Any help rn, would mean the world to me and my cat Max 🙏🏼 🧵 (a thread):

Behold! The pinnacle of art! Very high-effort, a masterpiece of skill and craft! Incredibly good.
And Behold! Horrible degenerate art. Very low-effort, mumbled bunch of shapes, evil and communist.

For people so obsessed with originality these guys sure love regurgitating fascist art philosophy

honestly? i wouldn’t mind if that’s how things have to be now, people will have to show proof of their hard work because now any talentless loser such as yourself can type something into a computer and then gloat about how they made ‘art’. You are pathetic and hate art.

So this person - who wasn't even in the class - decided to walk into a classroom, record someone else's final project without permission, and now thousands of people are shitting all over it on twitter.

very funny seeing twitter illustrators realize art school does not work on twitter rules and that its actually both okay and encouraged to explore new artistic tools

So the vote to ratify the 2023-2026 agreement between the DGA and AMPTP ends a week from Friday and I have decided to vote “no.” I know I have a “rock thrower” POV a lot of the time and I often have to check and re-check that instinct. Like A LOT!

"I don't know how to torrent. It's too complicated and scary for me, so I'm happy to pay corporations a regular fee for temporary access to their content" is exactly the learned helplessness corporations have been pushing for years with their UI streamlining and walled gardens

And as someone who has been working on generative music and iterative music and algorithmic music for a long time, I like tools, but when the tools are made from stolen material being sold to deep pockets as a fake means by uncreative scammers to devalue artists and art, fuck dat

I got a wee lil jumpscare at first, but I think Paul’s quote’s been mischaracterized by these headlines.
John’s vocal already exists! They’re not generating John’s voice via AI! They wanna clean it up with the same tools they used during the Get Back doc! I think that’s okay!

Thing is, the headline isn't even misleading - they used AI software to repair a recording of John's voice from an old cassette. People are just so jumpy at the idea of generative AI that they assumed they were making new John vocals from scratch.

live, audio-reactive image generation sounds like an exciting frontier.

VSCHAOS by is a spectral variational autoencoder compatible with nn~, it's lightweight, intuitive and super fun to use! Give it a try 😁

I feel so motivated to create an actually good AI-generated album purely out of spite for 1. everyone who doubts AI as an actual creative tool and 2. all the people making extremely shitty AI art, which seems to be the majority of them so far
