Following myth of the 2006 playbook - i.e. we won in 2006 because DCCC backed anyone – may feel like the safest play for Luján personally 4/

But Dems won House in '06 for 3 reasons: 1-Bush's #s was toxically low; 2-voters knew war had to end; 3-House Rs had full-on sex scandal 5/

Just a couple months before the 2006 election, Cong. Foley resigned after sending explicit messages to an underage Congressional page. 6/

Also “2006 strategy" myth doesn't explain the Senate, where Ds took majority riding same wave, w/ progressive Sherrod Brown and others. 7/

And can't forget many of the 2006 Dems were swept away in 2010 midterms. To the extend DCCC backed soft Dems, benefit didn't last. 8/

But what did last is people's memory that core rights and principles were threatened and up for grabs. 9/

.@repbenraylujan reasoning is dangerous. DCCC says 'we have to appeal to everyone.' But they are blind to reality of current situation...10/

This is not about respecting personal beliefs - Dems rightly already do that. We welcome leaders with differing personal views...11/

This is about allowing a far-right, religiously warped anti-Democratic force to infect D party so they can write laws that control women 12/

Dems are ALREADY the big-tent party. It's about whether the Democratic party stands for democracy & human rights or not. Period. 13/

Mark my words: Dems will lose much much more than they gain if they play politics with women’s self-determination and equality. 14/

This is not 2006. Women are angry and scared. Misogynists in the White House. We need to know that the Democratic part has our backs. 15/
