Unnoticed in the chaos of the last month: Trump officials went to Intl Conference on Family Planning where they praised Hungary's "procreation, not immigration" policy openly promoting the "white replacement theory." https://time.com/5748503/trump-abortion-immigration-replacement-theory/ … /1

Trump is not the first. The historic foundation of the anti-choice movement is an unwavering belief that white Christian men have a right to rule unchallenged -- family and government. Paul LePage used this as a reason to pass abortion laws in Maine when he was governor.... /2

Claiming that there were not enough people left in the state to allow women to terminate pregnancies. Steve King has been spouting this BS forever and people write him off as an outlier lunatic rather than someone who just says the quiet part out loud. Like Todd Akin. /3

Back to conference: Trump's dispatch praised Hungary's "pro-fertility" agenda, which includes a new constitution that gives fertilized eggs more rights than the woman carrying it. Their tax and social policies disproportionately support what they call "traditional families." /4

Back in the US, HHS has been surreptitiously moving similar policies as much as it can without congressional approval. They rewarded Title X money to anti-choice centers that refuse to discuss abortion or contraception with women who come in looking for health care advice. /5

Trump's DPC chair told Hungary they were "courageous and creative" in their new systems of reproductive oppression and the US comes in "support and solidarity." Hungarian PM Orban vowed to fight the “exchange of populations, to replace the population of Europeans with others.” /6

Trump of course has routinely said "we don’t want what is happening with immigration in Europe to happen with us!” while moving and facilitating some of the most draconian laws affecting abortion, contraception, sex ed, LGBTQ rights and immigration. Their agenda is control. /7

Most anti-choice leaders stand silent or support children separated from their parents the border. Trump praised Nazis chanting "you will not replace us" in Charlottesville as fine people. The sooner we understand that racism, homophobia and xenophobia are all part of the... /8

...Trojan Horse they constructed around abortion, banking on abortion stigma keeping people quiet, not willing to fight what's underneath. These are not separate maladies. 2020 is about: Control vs freedom. Pluralism vs racism. Justice vs oppression. I'm in. Let's do this. 9/9
