My father in Cairo weeks before he’d be assassinated at age 39. Despite following his every move an FBI informant called him, “a man of high moral character who neither smokes nor drinks.” He spoke truth to power, and we know that truth is timeless. Rest In Peace, Dad 2/21/1965🌟

Happy birthday Dr. Betty Shabazz! Today, and all days we honor Dr. Betty Shabazz (5.28.1934 - 6.23.1997) - a freedom fighter, trailblazer, brilliant educator, international leader, mother and wife. We are forever grateful for the light and wisdom she shared with the world.

Today is the 55th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The world lost a visionary leader whose drive for equality has inspired generations of fighters. His impact will forever be felt, and we will NEVER forget his tireless advocacy for human rights.✊🏾

Today, 55 years ago my life changed forever. At 5 years of age my father was violently taken from me and my family. Although the void persists... I choose to love anyway.  #MLKLegacy #BeLove #mlk55   1/15/29-4/4/68

Let us never forget that this is the “house that Betty built”. It’s due to her determination that the building where Malcolm X was assassinated still stands, and that within the very same walls we continue the work of Brother Malcolm and Dr. Betty Shabazz today.

Despite his home firebombed on 2/14/1965 where his pregnant wife and babies slept, this young 39 year old Man still kept his commitments and was ultimately assassinated 1 week later, on Sunday, 2/21/1965, at approx 3PM. May God reward him for his selfless deeds.

An eyewitness recalls 'When we saw Malcolm departing on the midnight train to London, we realised he had not slept for at least two days. He hardly had a moment to prepare for any of the speeches he delivered nor for the press and TV interviews.'

That’s odd. Please clarify. Are you saying someone put holes in his shoes at the airport—because he certainly would not have traveled abroad let alone anywhere with holes in his shoes. 🙏🏾

'He prayed the Friday prayer at Manchester Central Mosque. His shoes got lost among others and he said: "who would pick my shoes?" When we found his shoes- we found they had huge holes in them. What a sense of humour and humbleness. He did not even have a decent pair of shoes.'
