i mean, thrall literally says in legion the elements left him right after garrosh “Doomhammer... it was like a dead weight in my hands. The elements were silent. It has been this way since I used it to slay Garrosh.”

I like to believe they abandoned him because the mak'gora with Garrosh was......a slaughter, really? That's how I see that cutscene and it's why I interpret it as the reason Thrall was sort of disavowed by the elements
